Objectives - CY 2016
Based on public comments, the Office of National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) has worked to establish a number of final policies in response to public sentiment:
- Simplified program requirements
- An introduction of flexibility within certain objectives
- An option to participate in Stage 3 in 2017 but not required until 2018
- An overall focus on interoperability
Changes to the EHR Incentive Program, aka “ Meaningful Use”, include “simplifying and reducing the number of measures, and focusing the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs on the advanced use of EHR technology. In addition, the proposals set a path for providers to move toward aligned reporting on a single set of requirements, with the goal of moving all participants in the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs to a single set of requirements in 2018.” ONC hopes “by creating simplicity in the program by focusing on the success of certain measures that are part of the meaningful use program to date, and setting a long- term, sustainable foundation based on key advanced use objectives for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs.”
Below are the objectives for Eligible Professionals to attest to in 2016 (Mod Stage 2).
