Children’s National Health System Receives Prestigious 2017 HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award

With health information technology (health IT) as the catalyst for improving care, the Children’s National Health System achieved the following milestones during its successful journey of EHR implementation.

• Innovative unit-based quality boards bring real-time quality and safety information to the healthcare teams and family members.

• By incorporating of CT scan decision support rules into the electronic health record (EHR), Children’s National Health System obtained a 44% CT scan reduction and a yearly cost reduction of $875,144.

• Transition from dictation/transcription-driven notes to electronic template and voice recognition notes in ambulatory specialty clinics allowed for the immediate availability of notes to all care providers and a significant reduction in transcription costs.
