Data Privacy Day (DPD), celebrated each year on January 28th, is an international effort centered on "Respecting Privacy, Safeguarding Data and Enabling Trust."
We're hoping to make DPD 2016 the best yet! Please show your support for protecting and promoting privacy by becoming a DPD Champion today and joining in on the social media conversation by using the hashtag #PrivacyAware.
Check out a few easy ways to help your organization become #PrivacyAware:
Challenge your employees to a #PrivacyAware competition. Talk to employees frequently about what privacy means to your organization and the role they have in making sure privacy is achieved and maintained. You can test them on their privacy knowledge by using this fun quiz, or you can create your own. You can give prizes to winners or award certificates of appreciation, which can be downloaded here.
Help your employees be #PrivacyAware by posting short messages about privacy around the office or on internal message boards now through Jan 28. To get started, take a look at these examples.
Organize a company-wide volunteer day with local schools to teach students about privacy, cybersecurity and online safety. You can use these free teaching materials and lesson plans from C-SAVE.
Hang the Data Privacy Day poster or #PrivacyAware memes in common areas to help create awareness. Downloadable posters, memes and other materials can be found here.
- Host a “lunch & learn” in January to educate employees about the value and impact of protecting customer and colleague information as well as their role in keeping it safe. Videos and other resources to help you start the conversation can be found here.
