Shelley Price, MS, FHIMSS
Director, Payer and Life Sciences
As Director of Payer and Life Sciences for the Office of the Chief Technology and Innovations Officer at HIMSS, Shelley Price leads the organization's efforts around payer, life sciences, and data and analytics – including population health, secondary use of data, and clinical & business intelligence (C&BI) – as a subject matter expert and organizer for the C&BI Committee, Task Forces and Community of over 8,300 members. In these roles, she works with HIMSS volunteers, industry leaders, and other subject matter experts to develop thought leadership, content, educational sessions, policy recommendations, and other resources and tools to turn data in to action and deliver on the triple-aim of value-based healthcare. She is also a national speaker on data and analytics, precision medicine, population health, life sciences, and driving to a value-based health system through new care delivery and payment models.
Ms. Price has worked on the health care IT issues and healthcare policy in Washington, D.C. for over two decades. Prior to joining HIMSS, Ms. Price worked in the Policy, Research, and Strategic Development group at PhRMA, where she led the association’s efforts on health IT. She also specialized on the intellectual property policy issues facing the pharmaceutical sector, and the policy, regulatory, and R&D impacts of follow-on biologics. She began her career as associate director of governmental issues for a prominent Washington, D.C.-based law firm specializing in energy, the environment, natural resources and healthcare. While there, she was a part of the team that represented a Fortune 25 company that is one of the world's largest healthcare services company and a leader in health information technology and pharmaceutical supply distribution and management.
Ms Price obtained her bachelors of science degree from the University of Michigan and her masters of science from Johns Hopkins University, Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. She is a HIMSS Fellow and past board member of the Arlington Virginia Chapter of the League of Women Voters.
