Director, Federal Affairs
Eli Fleet is the Director of Federal Affairs at HIMSS, a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information and technology.
In this position, he is a key member of the government relations team in helping to build the strongest possible relationship between HIMSS and the various federal agencies. This role includes leading the effort in various HIMSS responses to those federal agencies on how IT can assists in the transformation of the healthcare system. Additionally, he also serves as the government relations liaison to the EHRA.
Prior to joining HIMSS, Eli served four and half years at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). During his time at HHS, he served as a Special Assistant to Secretary Burwell and Secretary Sebelius before her. His duties at included briefing the Secretary, and participating in meetings and events in Washington and all across the globe. He gained firsthand knowledge of the healthcare system as well as the inner workings of HHS. Before his time at HHS, Eli worked for the White House, as well as on a number of national and statewide political campaigns. He came to Washington in 2007 and spent a year and half working in the office of a Member of Congress from his native Florida.
Eli obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Florida and a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from the American Military University.
