Kerry Amato, CAE is Director, Professional Development for HIMSS: a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information and technology.
Amato joined HIMSS in 2015 as the Manager of Specialty Education for the Professional Development department where she worked on the development and execution of preconference symposium, the Government Health IT Conference, and regional based events on topics designate as critical to the mission of HIMSS. In her current role, she is responsible for engaging with internal subject matter experts as well as volunteers to develop relevant and quality specialty education programs that support the HIMSS mission to improve health through the use of technology. Specifically, she oversees the development and execution of HIMSS’s well-known Views from the Top sessions, mission critical webinars, the use of crowdsourcing technologies at HIMSS Annual Conference as well as the educational offerings associated with HX360, National Health IT week and other regional events throughout the year. She continually looks for ways to perform data analytics on industry trends, session feedback and other related information to help inform the development of educational offerings throughout the year to ensure HIMSS is providing the best educational offerings possible.
Before joining HIMSS, Amato was the Senior Manager of Practice Affairs at the American Academy of Periodontology where she was responsible for identifying and developing programs that address practice management issues; monitoring scientific trends affecting the specialty of periodontics; and working with the Academy’s leadership to develop clinical resources to monitor and address emerging issues.
Amato earned a BA in Marketing and Management from the University of Iowa. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, Association Forum of Chicagoland, as well as a Certified Association Executive (CAE). In 2016, she was named one of Connect Association Magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40” award winners.
