A change management process should be in place throughout the process of managing the optimization of the application(s). This process should include governance to prioritize and schedule the changes, as well as a technical team to understand potential impacts of changes to the system. The extent and length of downtime and backout plans should also be determined. Within change management, communication is key. In the case of patient engagement technology, this means not only communication with providers, but also with patients. This can be accomplished by email and should include estimated down time.
