How Machine Learning and AI Reduces Opioid Abuse

With an estimated 2.4 million Americans suffering from an opioid use disorder and deaths attributable to opioids continuing to rise, government, health, and community organizations are pooling resources to address this crisis.  In this session, Subha Madhavan, chief data scientist at Georgetown University Medical Center, will discuss how data from more than 10,000 patients is being used to develop risk prediction models to identify opioid patients at high risk of relapsing after rehabilitation and of continuing long-term opioid use following surgery.  In this talk, Subha will describe the process and share results of machine learning and data-driven approaches to help address the opioid epidemic.
