The average patient visiting the emergency department at MedStar Health has around 60 documents in his or her medical history, and each document can take up to a minute to read. To reduce the amount of time clinicians spend reading, the hospital was able to use machine-learning techniques that instantly scan the entire patient history and provides recommendations based on the patient's presenting symptoms. Clinicians are able to evaluate the outputs and make the best diagnosis, treatment, and care decisions.
In this webinar, Ernest Sohn, chief data scientist in Booz Allen's Data Solutions and Machine Intelligence group, will explain the work that went into developing the system. And he will share lessons learned on how to best apply machine learning processes to clinical situations.
