Finding Joy in Your Workplace Emily K Ward, BSN, RN MBA, CCRN-K, Associate Chief Nurse Executive, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Emily will discuss the effects of burnout, engagement and turnover on workplace joy; review the Institute for Healthcare’s framework for a practical path to nurture and restore joy in healthcare; and discuss and learn leadership strategies to engage staff and foster a culture of accountability

Arriving at the CEO Level and Lessons Learned Along the Way Stephen Stewart, CHCIO, President and Chief Executive Officer, Iowa Health Information Network

Stephen will share his decades of experience leading IT infrastructures in the healthcare sector. Stewart has directed many IT initiatives in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. His IT career has focused heavily on applications, both from a design and implementation perspective. Stewart is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of the IHIN (Iowa Health Information Network), the statewide Health Information Exchange for Iowa. Immediately prior to joining IHIN Stewart spent two years with the University of Iowa Health System installing and integrating Epic into the UIHC Critical Access referral network. Prior to joining UIHC Stewart served as a Healthcare IT and Security Consultant for TruBridge serving a two-year engagement as interim Chief Information Officer at a two-hospital system in Pennsylvania. Prior to joining TruBridge, for over six years he served as the Chief Information Officer at Henry County Health Center, where he also served as the Compliance Officer and Security Officer. Prior to joining the hospital in 2008, he spent more than 29 years in Health IT, serving primarily as the CIO and or COO of Revenue Cycle firms.
