The Foundations of Interoperability: Perspectives from the Nursing Informatics Community and IHE

As the first of a two-part series, explore the foundations of Interoperability along with its benefits and challenges to the health care system. Interoperability is a prevalent topic in Health IT as healthcare organizations are discovering best practices for data exchange. In this joint collaboration between the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Community and IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) Community, viewers will have the opportunity to see Interoperability in the works from both community’s perspectives. From this presentation, viewers will be able to define interoperability, discuss the current state of standards organizations, and identify the benefits and challenges to interoperability.
