Rachel McCaughey, Adoption Coach-Physician Alignment, Cerner Corporation

Rachel is a 2018 graduate from Texas State University with a degree in Health Information Management. Her last semester, she completed a 6-week internship at Rush University Medical Center as an assistant to the HIM Director. Following graduation, she began working at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri, as a consultant. As a consultant, she travels to client sites around the country to teach healthcare providers the various Cerner solutions. She looks forward to continuing her career in healthcare!

Mimi Enigbokan, Project Manager, Epic Systems

Mimi is a recent graduate from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management.Day to day, she manages large and small scale projects for a number of organizations installing Epic. Her role provides her the opportunity to work globally with healthcare systems who strive to streamline patient care.

Rebecca Johnston, HIM coder, Hamilton Healthcare System

Rebecca has worked in the healthcare field for over 15 years and she currently works as a remote outpatient coder for a small rural hospital. In May 2017, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management (HIM) at Texas State University. In Fall 2017, she entered the HIM program with a strong personal goal to obtain her master’s degree in May 2019. In addition to her studies, Rebecca has had many accomplishments during her graduate studies in the MHIM program.

Making the move from an undergraduate or graduate program to your first position in the market can be one of the hardest steps to take. We have assembled a panel of recent graduates who are in the field and will share their perspectives on what worked well for them as well as things to avoid.
