The HIMSS APAC Health CIO Summit is Asia Pacific’s inaugural gathering of health CIOs. To be held digitally on 29 July 2021, the summit will address pertinent information and technology issues that are driving health systems forward in this age of digital transformation.

The summit is designed for the health CIO community based on their top priorities in 2021. This was established by drawing insights from a survey conducted across 17 Asia Pacific countries, resulting in the creation of the HIMSS APAC Digital Health Trendbarometer Report. Through this report, we have identified four topics as paramount to CIOs:

  • Connected health: Shifting the focus from sickness to wellness
  • Cybersecurity: Robust cybersecurity frameworks are not enough to prevent breaches
  • Health analytics: Leveraging the vast amount of data that the healthcare industry already possesses
  • Digitally empowered workforce: People and technology joining forces to improve job processes

HIMSS subject matter experts will conduct thought leadership sessions centered on each topic. Our analytics models have derived data and insights based on health systems from around the world, and this information will guide the presenters' positions. CIO speakers will also share their stories of real-world problems and solutions, and participants will be able to apply what they learn in their own organisation’s digital journey.

The goal of the APAC Health CIO Summit is to foster a spirit of learning and sharing. Attendees will be able to participate in Q&A sessions directly with speakers; provide their own insights via polling sessions to encourage opinion sharing; create peer-networking opportunities to facilitate professional relationships; and join focus groups that deep-dive into the topics that are most important to them.

The insights gained from this summit will be published in the exclusive HIMSS APAC Health CIO Report, which will be presented and released at the HIMSS21 APAC Conference, to be held in October 2021.

Gather with fellow APAC health CIOs to discover and discuss pertinent information and technology issues including connected health, cybersecurity, health analytics, digitally empowered workforce and other drivers projecting health systems forward in this age of digital transformation at the HIMSS APAC Health CIO Summit.

Connected Health

Technology-enabled care is no longer just a luxury. By seeking increased access to care and focusing on wellness, people are taking charge of their own health. For health providers, the necessity of technology-enabled care can help improve the quality of care while also keeping it cost-effective.

The recent cyberattack on a hospital in Dusseldorf crippled its systems, contributing to the death of a patient. While health providers are seemingly well prepared with robust cybersecurity frameworks in place, risk assessments should still be conducted and reviewed regularly to mitigate the risk of such cybersecurity breaches.

Health Analytics

The world has witnessed an information explosion with the amount of health data produced and collected. To support health and wellness, providers need to leverage the vast data they already possess in order to create personalized healthcare, optimize outcomes by predicting risks, and track population health.

Digitally Empowered Workforce

A digitally empowered workforce is not just about technology—it’s about people. The rise of the human and digital workforce allows individuals to be empowered by their skills and knowledge in order to leverage the growing capabilities of innovative technologies such as AI and RPA, resulting in improved job processes.
