Join the HIMSS Montana Chapter on November 17 at 1:00 pm MT for “Information Blocking: What Healthcare Organizations Need to Know,” presented by Susan Clarke, a privacy and security consultant at Mountain-Pacific Quality Health. She has over 20 years’ experience in health care leadership, information technology (IT) management and compliance—13 of those years with a Mayo Clinic-affiliated integrated health system. Clarke has served on various councils and committees for IT security, disaster recovery, emergency preparedness and Joint Commission. For the past several years, Clarke has worked with health care organizations conducting privacy and security risk analysis and assisting with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and health information privacy, IT security and 42 CRF, Part 2 training. Clarke is a computer scientist as well as a certified healthcare information security and privacy practitioner.

This complex federal regulation is aimed at ending information blocking practices to allow the secure exchange and use of electronic health information (eHI) by patients, providers and health care facilities.
