Subject: Status Report HIMSS PM SIG
The HIMSS PM SIG is planning, what we hope, will be another interesting and valuable year of educational activities for the membership. Last year, we provided 9 webinars and an annual meeting for over 350+ members in attendance. The current plan is to have only 6-8 webinars in 2017-18 to allow time to develop other aspects of the SIG. This time will be utilized to complete our SharePoint site and increased the level of volunteer participation.
Even though the level of participation in our survey was relatively low (n=30), we were able to gain some insight into the opinions of membership. The two largest work sites were health systems (50%) and consulting (23%). The level of participation from Government based PMs was 6.6%. The size of the organizations represented in the survey was large with over 37% from organizations having greater than 1000 beds.
76% of the survey respondents were SIG members with 43% of the SIG members also Fellows members. We are pleased with this result as we are no longer able to directly invite Fellow members to our webinars. The members found the sessions to be valuable or very valuable (83%) and the education level to be appropriate (87%). We are pleased with this result as it is difficult to identify topics of interest and present them to you at the appropriate education level. Based on these finding, we will continue to present materials first at beginning or introductory level and then, where appropriate, provide follow on sessions at an increased content level.
As expected, over 73% of the people who responded utilize the SIG education as a source for PMI or CPHIMSS credits.
Last, we received some excellent ideas relative to future topics. We have already identified a number of speakers for this year who will speak to some of these suggested ideas. As we move through the year and the SharePoint site becomes active, we will reach out to membership for speakers for other topics.
We are expecting a busy, valuable, and informative year. As always, have an idea or want to volunteer to speak, please reach out to us.
