Connecting the Dots: The (Bipartisan) Approach to Care Delivery Reform - Open Data, Health IT, and Value-Based Payment

This presentation focuses on efforts to align payment reform with advances in health IT, and the shift to open data and more government-held health data-forces that are ushering in a golden era of IT-fueled care delivery innovation. Speaker Aneesh Chopra shares his view of consumers taking a more active role in navigating the health care delivery system, empowered with greater access to their own data and a growing number of apps and navigation support services that can help them make better decisions at each step of their care journey. He reviews recent efforts to open up data across EHRs, payers, and the government to foster a growing ecosystem of tech-enabled services that are tackling waste and boosting care quality.

The presentation further offers health care organizations a pragmatic path to build the necessary foundation for organizing, enriching and (securely) sharing patient health data, including taking full advantage of the emerging “health internet” efforts worth advancing, even amidst this period of policy uncertainty.
