Diagnostic Image Exchange - Progress and Status Report
This panel explores the evolution and future of imaging exchange. Spearheaded by IHE International’s Radiology Domain, imaging interoperability has trailblazer standards-based exchange and integration of revolutionary applications of artificial intelligence. Despite the maturity of standards, not all health IT systems capture, maintain, and/or share information to access and view DICOM images. Including imaging data elements in the U.S. Core Data for Interoperability would significantly advance access and use of diagnostic images and data files utilizing broadly available technology while supporting current implementations of DICOM image files through networks such as Carequality and TEFCA. Additionally, the HL7® FHIR® Argonaut Project is advancing FHIR-based APIs and patient access to imaging data.
