Patient Education Partnerships With IT Are Crucial for Success

Thursday, April 20 at 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM CT
South Building, Level 5 | S501

With the rise of telehealth and other digital health innovations, patient education is on the forefront of having a broader impact on patient outcomes. In this session, we examine the ways a clinician can impact patient experience and clinical outcomes using education beyond the confines of a traditional 15-minute face-to face visit. We will discuss both the innovations and challenges related to providing and measuring patient education programs within digital integrations, and share national best practices being implemented to improve patient education programs. Throughout the discussion, we will evaluate the ways in which IT can act as a thought partner and implementation leader in this space.

Learning Objectives

  • Examine strategies for IT, Physician, Nursing and other clinical leadership to build the infrastructure and governance model to create a successful patient education program
  • Examine efforts made, challenges faced, and lessons learned in measuring the impact of educational interventions on patient engagement and outcomes at ChristianaCare
  • Discuss recent quality improvement and research projects conducted across the country that have effectively measured the impact of health education on patient outcomes in a variety of healthcare settings
