Alex Middendorf, Pharm.D. MBA, is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. His area of specialty is community pharmacy and he currently serves as a teaching and patient care preceptor for the SDSU/Lewis Drug PGY1 Community Residency Program at Lewis Drug in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His major teaching responsibilities include coordination of the P4 Community Pharmacy Care Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience as well as classroom teaching for all years of the professional program in areas of community pharmacy practice such as patient counseling, self-care, and medication therapy management. He also serves as a co-advisor to the SDSU chapter of the Student Collaboration for the Advancement and Promotion of Pharmacy (SCAPP). His main areas of research focus on provision of outpatient pharmacist services and use of health information technology to improve care delivery.
