Benjamin H. Slovis MD MA is Associate Chief Medical Information Officer for the Abington and Jefferson Northeast Divisions of Jefferson Health and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. He is dual board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics. After completing emergency medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, he completed a Clinical Informatics Fellowship at Mount Sinai and concurrently completed a two-year National Library of Medicine funded post-doctoral fellowship in Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University. Dr. Slovis’s research interests focus on health information technology and applied clinical informatics, with a specific concentration on the opioid epidemic. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals, authored several book chapters, presented at scientific meetings and is an enthusiastic educator. He has served as the secretary and chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Informatics Section and was elected to chair the Emergency Medicine Steering Board for Epic Systems in Verona, WI. Dr. Slovis has received several awards including the Jefferson Analytics Award in Data Visualization and the Pennsylvania Medical Society Top Physicians Under 40.
