Dr. Hayes joined CPSI in 2016 and provides his leadership and expertise as it relates to EHR optimization largely from a provider perspective. His focus is being an advocate for our clients in key areas including EHR usability, functionality, adoption and improvement of end-user experiences. Dr. Hayes also lends his expertise and clinical perspective for new product development, optimal clinical workflow processes and alignment of our EHR solutions with the needs of providers and other clinicians as well as enhanced patient safety and improved quality of care within our systems. Dr. Hayes is trained and private practiced as an Internist and Interventional Cardiologist beginning his career in a clinic/hospital/ED based setting in 1996. Dr. Hayes also has previous physician executive experience in the field of Health Information Technology having also worked previously for Cerner Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and earned his M.D. from Rutgers University Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his residency/Chief Resident Year in Internal Medicine at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. He then went on to complete a fellowship/Chief Fellow Year in Interventional Cardiology at the Texas Heart Institute. He later earned his M.B.A. from the Mitchell College of Business. Dr. Hayes has been a member of the A.C.C. (Fellow), Texas Heart Institute Society, and more recently A.M.D.I.S. [Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems]. He has served on and been in numerous committees and executive positions during his medical career and has done various forms of healthcare consulting work through his consulting company. He resides in Mobile, AL the site of CPSI’s headquarters.
