As Chief Information Officer, Dr. Bobbie Byrne is responsible for all information technology applications, information security, infrastructure, clinical informatics, data warehousing and business intelligence across Advocate Aurora Health.   She joined Advocate Health Care in 2017. Previously, Dr. Byrne served as the Chief Medical Officer of Edward Elmhurst Health, a three-hospital system in the western suburbs of Chicago, where she was responsible for quality and safety, clinical research, information technology and patient experience. Dr. Byrne has also served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Clinical Solutions for Eclipsys Corporation (now Allscripts), an enterprise software development company.   A physician who is board-certified in pediatrics and clinical informatics, Dr. Byrne began her career practicing medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and as part of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare (now NorthShore University HealthSystem).   Recognized as the Orbie Chicago CIO of the Year in 2021, she serves on the boards of two Nasdaq companies: SPOK, a secure texting application for health care organizations, and SOC Telemed, a provider of acute telemedicine technology, as well as Truveta, a private company joint venture.  She is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Chicago Network.    Dr. Byrne completed a master’s degree in business administration at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, a medical degree at Northwestern University, a pediatrics residency at Children’s Memorial Medical Center in Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in history at Northwestern University. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
