Brett MacLaren is senior vice president, Data & Analytics, and a member of the IT Executive Committee at Kaiser Permanente, one of America’s leading health care providers and not-for-profit health plans. MacLaren is responsible for prioritizing data as a business-critical asset in the enterprise’s digital enablement and transformation strategy while ensuring data privacy and modernizing the tech stack with cloud and automation capabilities. He is leading a team of data and analytics technical professionals to deploy a comprehensive data and analytics strategy and roadmap, supporting differentiated care innovations through sophisticated technologies, platforms and data resources; advanced analytics; responsible AI/ML; and data empowerment. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, MacLaren served as chief data officer and group vice president at Providence Healthcare where he led the strategy for the organization’s large portfolio of analytic platforms, products, and services and transitioned the organization to cloud-first platforms to better manage and scale systems and processes. He was also accountable for enterprise data management and governance programs, making it easier to find, trust, and understand data assets. MacLaren began his more-than-20-year career in health care IT at Sharp HealthCare, rising through the ranks to become vice president of Enterprise Analytics. He partnered with senior executives to establish the strategic vision and develop a corporate strategy involving the use, analysis, governance, and distribution of data and information across the continuum of care.
