Dr. Claire DeBolt is a physician at University of Virginia Health System, where she is training as a pulmonary and critical medicine fellow and a clinical informatics fellow. She completed her medical school training at University of Virginia School of Medicine and her internal medicine residency at the University of California San Francisco. In residency, her research focused on how ICU delirium can impact lung transplant recipient morbidity and mortality. In her current work, Dr. DeBolt is combining her interests in clinical informatics and critical care to investigate how clinical decision support and data visualization tools can improve outcomes among critically ill patients. In her efforts to support high-quality care at UVA Health, she has developed and promoted use of a sepsis order set to facilitate delivery of antibiotics, developed a best practices advisory to encourage administration of vaccinations for patients after splenectomy, and developed use of the ICU Bundle Board, a data visualization board assisting critical care providers in providing more complete care for, documentation of, and improving communication surrounding patients with drains and catheters.
