Connie Feiler, RN, MSN spent 30+ years at UPMC, a 40-hospital health system with a health plan in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She served as the magnet director and Director of Nursing Education at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, one of the top women's hospitals nationally. In that role, Connie also led patient education improvements. As UPMC evolved into the largest healthcare provider in the State of Pennsylvania, Connie was charged with developing a strategic plan to improve patient education. For the last ten years, Connie served as the Director of Patient Education and Shared Decision Making where she led a team of physicians, informatics, nurses and other clinical leaders to redesign the patient education program. They have improved quality outcomes to have a greater impact on patients, their caregivers and health plan members. One of Connie’s accomplishments was partnering with physicians and IT to develop a digital integration of patient education into Epic to automate the delivery of education content to OB patients each trimester. Connie came to Healthwise, a national patient education content provider in January 2021, to serve as the nursing leader and Clinical Director of Patient Experience. Connie provides consultation to hospitals and health plans nationally to guide them in improvements to their patient education program.
