Dr. Emre Sezgin is a principal investigator and the head of the Intelligent Futures Research Lab at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He has been a digital health scientist and innovator for more than a decade, focusing on digital health research and development for families, adolescents, and younger pediatric populations with chronic conditions. His particular interest is in remote patient monitoring and self-care with voice engagement and multimodal systems, patient-generated health data, and equitable and inclusive conversational AI. He has been a co-investigator in a number of projects that are funded by federal agencies or national foundations, combining sensor technologies, mobile apps, voice assistants, conversational AI, and NLP methods to create a multimodal, intelligent, and integrated digital health ecosystem for patients and families. His work has been published in the leading medical informatics journals and highlighted in national and international media outlets.
