Mark Sugrue is a Managing Director in the Health Solutions practice at FTI Consulting. He has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Sugrue was the Managing Director for Clinical Delivery and Informatics Solutions at Commonwealth Medicine, the operational and consulting division of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In this role, he was responsible for leading the strategic and tactical operations provided to public health enterprises in Massachusetts and across the US. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sugrue was awarded the 2020 Citation for Outstanding Performance by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for his work leading the emergency COVID response at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, MA. Sugrue has also served as the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) and Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Professional Practice at the UMass Memorial Medical Center where he led the successful implementation of a $700M electronic health record. Previously, Sugrue served as Lahey Hospital and Medical Center’s very first CNIO, responsible for all technology and nursing education and for leading the organization’s efforts in EHR implementation and optimization. Sugrue offers extensive health management consulting experience having worked for well-known firms, including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, KPMG/Bearing Point, and Arthur Andersen. He currently serves as a member of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Board of Directors. Sugrue received an M.S.N. in Nursing Leadership and a B.S.N in Nursing Science from Regis College along with a B.S in Biology and Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
