On Monday, December 12, HIMSS submitted its comment letter to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs on the VistA Standardization, Virtualization, Consolidation, and Security Remediation Request for Information (RFI).
HIMSS appreciated the opportunity to leverage their members’ expertise in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) continued push to modernize the healthcare our nation’s veterans receive.
In addition, HIMSS emphasized its support for all stakeholders to achieve interoperability leading to information exchange that improves the quality and cost effectiveness of care delivery. To add, HIMSS also encouraged VA to require adoption of interoperable data formats for care settings such as behavioral health, long term-term and post-acute care, community service providers, and in government-run and private sector.
HIMSS encouraged and suggested VA to reach out to HIMSS to explore resources and communities such as the EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM), Continuity of Care Maturity Model (CCMM), and Concert by HIMSS that could prove to be highly valuable to the VA’s modernization efforts.
