Professional Development Committee
As a caused-based, not-for-profit organization, HIMSS ensures healthcare has the best information and technology talent available, an appropriately-sized pool of qualified job seekers, and professionals equipped with the tools and resources needed to move their organizations forward in transforming healthcare through the best use of information and technology and management systems. As a complement to our premier educational programming and online-learning delivered through the HIMSS Learning Center, HIMSS provides health information and technology career development services for both incumbents, and those new to the field, across all facets of the healthcare continuum. The HIMSS Professional Development Committee will work to advance these by greatly enhancing our focus on health information and technology career services and workforce development initiatives designed to attract and sustain all levels of stakeholders, i.e. early careerists to advanced professionals, and develop tools, resources, and content for all levels of members, i.e. new members, existing members, and non-members to grow professionally in their careers.
To achieve our goals, we are harnessing the power and expertise of the HIMSS membership. The Professional Development Committee will engage our members in developing tools, resources, and content related to career services, workforce development, and professional development of key health information and technology stakeholders while achieving HIMSS's strategic goals. Also serving as a part of the Professional Development Committee are two task forces; the TIGER International Task Force and the Students and Early Careerists Task Force.
