Nursing Informatics integrates the nursing and information sciences to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge and wisdom in nursing practice.
Our purpose is to articulate a cohesive voice for the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Community and to provide domain expertise, leadership, and guidance to the global nursing informatics community.
What is Nursing Informatics?
Nursing informatics is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice. It supports consumers, patients, nurses, and other providers in their decisionmaking in all roles and settings. This support is accomplished through the use of information structures, information processes, and information technology.
How Can You Participate?
Join the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Education & Networking Task Force
Members of the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Education & Networking Task Force develop and host educational webinars and networking opportunities in support of the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Community. The task force values diverse perspectives and encourages varying viewpoints, facilitated through a respectful exchange of ideas among all individuals involved in achieving the Task Force’s goals. Objectives are achieved through communication, information sharing, and collaboration through a monthly meeting via teleconference.
Nursing Informatics Community Webinars: In conjunction with the Nursing Informatics Education & Networking Task Force, the webinar series targets hotkey topics and emerging trends in regards to health information technology and informatics.
