Axel Wirth, CPHIMS, CISSP, HCISPP, is the recipient of the 2018 ACCE/HIMSS Excellence in Clinical Engineering & IT Synergies Award
CHICAGO (January 19, 2018) – Axel Wirth, CPHIMS, CISSP, HCISPP, is a Distinguished Healthcare Architect with Symantec Corporation. He has authored numerous articles, writes an award-winning column for Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology (BI&T), and has frequently presented at ACCE, AAMI, HIMSS, FDA, and NIST webinars and national conferences. He regularly gives lectures to students in graduate clinical engineering programs. Wirth also has been a leader in several national organizations, serving on the AAMI’s BI&T editorial board. He is a member of the HIMSS Privacy and Security Committee.

Axel Wirth, CPHIMS, CISSP, HCISPP has been named the recipient of the 2018 ACCE-HIMSS Excellence in Clinical Engineering and Information Technology Synergies Award, a joint award sponsored by the American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE) and HIMSS. The boards of directors of both organizations selected him as this year’s recipient.
The award recognizes individuals who have best demonstrated leadership in promoting or implementing significant synergies between the clinical engineering and information technology professions. Nominees for the award are honored for professional or technical contributions to the professions, such as research, development of a new process or product, a paper of significance, and trailblazing work in a new application of clinical engineering and IT.
