Arizona’s New Telemedicine Law Sends an Important Message

The state’s current telehealth coverage law, which Governor Doug Ducey signed into law in May, 2016, requires private health plans to pay for  telemedicine services across the entire state rather than  only the services offered in the rural areas of the state. It makes it impossible for non-rural areas Arizona residents to enjoy telemedicine services under their insurance benefit plans. The revised statute becomes effective on January 1, 2018 will expand telemedicine services coverage opportunities to all Arizona residents.
