The ARRA Era Tour Comes to the Windy City

With the meaningful use draft regulations due soon, Takin’ HIT to the Streets: The ARRA Era Chicago on Jan. 15, 2010, will offer actionable information from industry thought leaders for developing the best health IT strategy. Educational sessions include:

Ten Steps for Creating Your Roadmap to EHR Meaningful Use
This keynote session will explain the maturation model of EHR meaningful use criteria from 2011 through 2015. Judy Murphy, RN, FACMI, FHIMSS, vice president, information systems, Aurora Health Care, will discuss how organizations can create their roadmap to achieve meaningful use and receive the federal incentives outlined in ARRA.

Legal Strategies for Avoiding Vendor Disputes on the Road to Meaningful Use
With the emphasis on meaningful use, healthcare organizations will no doubt be adding systems and replacing systems. Because of this, customers and vendors must establish clear and reasonable expectations when negotiating purchases. In this session, Steven J. Fox, JD, partner, Post and Schell PC, will share effective tips on how to avoid vendor disputes while on the road to achieving meaningful use.

Critical Requirements for EHR Adoption: Getting Meaningful Use
Numerous surveys have documented the vast majority of healthcare organizations, including ambulatory clinics and hospitals, have yet to implement comprehensive EHR systems. HIMSS Analytics™ data shows that is not completely true in the hospital environment, but by any measure, there’s much work to be done. During this session, David E. Garets, president and CEO, HIMSS Analytics, and executive vice president, HIMSS, will explain how organizations should prepare for such an initiative.

Additionally, attendees can meet, chat with, and see demonstrations from the following product and service providers during the event: Healthland, IntraNexus, Keane, McKesson, Meta, Oracle and Zynx Health. The ARRA Era Chicago will be held at the Intercontinental Chicago O’Hare. The HIMSS Event Rate is $99 plus tax per night; to make reservations, call 847-544-5300 and mention the HIMSS Event Rate Code “HIM.” Program registration is open online; note, some registrants may qualify for free registration.
