HIMSS and Elsevier Announce Global Digital Healthcare Awards for 2019

The Awards will be presented during the HIMSS Europe & Health 2.0 Conference 2020 in Helsinki, Finland (26-28th May, 2020) 

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and Elsevier, the global information analytics business specializing in science and health, are proud to announce the call for submissions for the Annual HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award 2020, European edition.

Sean Roberts, Vice President for HIMSS EMEA said, “The global HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award is a showcase for best practices in health and informatics. The award presents a unique opportunity to be recognised as a frontrunner in the outstanding use of ICT in health and care. We are excited to start receiving submissionsfor the European edition.”

The HIMSS-Elsevier Awards team are recognizing professionals in two categories:

  • Outstanding ICT Achievement - focuses on harnessing information and technology to successfully advance patient care and safety.
  • Outstanding ICT Innovation - focuses on creatively leveraging existing technology or developing ground-breaking new solutions to enhance ICT adoption, patient care and outcomes.

The 2019 Award Winners were:

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, from the UK, won the “Outstanding ICT Innovation Award” for its project: ‘Joined-up healthcare through digital technology’, a UK breakthrough digital initiative, creating and launching the UK's first and fully integrated patient portal.

Helsinki University Hospital, from Finland, won the “Outstanding ICT Achievement Award” for its project ‘Health Village’, a platform providing support for operational change throughout the development program; and scalability of the system, where same platforms can be used for all patient groups
