On Thursday, April 3, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released their FDASIA Health IT Report that introduces a proposed strategy for a risk-based regulatory framework for health IT.

The report builds on the work of the FDASIA Workgroup, and its September 2013 recommendations.  HIMSS issued comments (July 2013) on the initial FDASIA Workgroup request for comments, and also sent a letter to HHS following the FDASIA Workgroup recommendations (November 2013).

There is a 90-day public comment period to this report, and HIMSS will be providing comment.  The HIMSS Government Relations team will keep you apprised of further developments concerning the FDASIA report as it relates to HIMSS’ policy priorities.
