Florida Hears Measure on Data Breach Reporting

The Florida House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hear House Bill 7087 during their April 4th meeting. The committee will meet in Sumner Hall (404 HOB) at 9:30am and will meet for 3 hours. HB 7087 is one of 21 measures being considered. 

HB 7087 was filed on March 3 and has already received a favorable report from the House Government Operations Subcommittee. The Judiciary Committee must favorably report out the measure before it can be taken up on the House Floor.

HB 7087 provides an exemption from public records requirements for information received by the Florida Department of Legal Affairs with relation to notices of data breaches. The measure provides a definition for "proprietary business information" and provides for future legislative review & repeal of exemptions.
