HIMSS was proud to participate in this year’s Heroes of Military Medicine Awards in Washington, DC on Wednesday, May 1st. HIMSS member, former Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and Army Surgeon General James Peake, was among the award winners that also included:
- Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford for his work on quality of life issues
- Army Colonel Nelson Michael for groundbreaking infectious disease research
- Air Force Colonel Raymond Fang, who has overseen a 99 percent combat casualty survival rate
- A posthumous award to Navy Hospital Corpsman First Class Darrel Enos, who was killed in Afghanistan while serving on his seventh deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan
HIMSS looks forward to working with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine’s Center for Public Private Partnerships in the coming months as we launch our military veteran and health IT initiative.
