HIMSS Applauds Nurses’ Influence on the Culture of Patient Safety

HIMSS, the American Nurses Association,(ANA) and, Alliance for Nursing Informatics (ANI) acknowledge the role that nurses play in creating a Culture of Safety, “where nurses feel supported, listened to and understood. A culture of safety fosters transparency, accountability and results,” the theme during National Nurses Week, held May 6-12.

“National Nurses Week honors the critical role nurses play in upholding the highest level of quality and standards in their practice, including fostering a safe work environment,” said Joyce Sensmeier, MS, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, FAAN, Vice President, Informatics, HIMSS. “Nursing leaders ensure resources are available to achieve safety results, providing resources for adequate staffing, equipment, technology and education.”
