HIMSS Recognizes Office Practicum for Achieving IIP Immunization Testing Validation

HIMSS is pleased to recognize Office Practicum for successfully completing the Immunization Integration Program Testing and Recognition initiative. By validating its pediatric electronic health record system’s immunization-focused functionality, Office Practicum has demonstrated its commitment to advancing immunization interoperability, data exchange, and data quality within immunization information systems.

The IIP, a collaboration between HIMSS, the American Immunization Registry Association, and Drummond Group, provides a structured and rigorous testing framework to help EHR developers enhance immunization data exchange. The latest IIP test plan offers a modular approach to testing, ensuring health IT solutions meet the highest standards of interoperability and evidence-based immunization best practices.

"The IIP test plan is extremely robust and comprehensive. The test plan includes evidence-based, real-world use cases and will deliver positive results,” said Chris Gibson, interoperability product director for Office Practicum. “Each use case facilitates better patient care and ease of use for the provider and in connecting with the IIS."

As an ASTP/ONC-approved alternative testing method, the IIP Testing and Recognition initiative allows EHR developers to adopt and showcase high-priority immunization capabilities at no cost. Testing is powered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in collaboration with Drummond Group as the authorized testing body.

With millions of deaths prevented annually through vaccination, ensuring seamless data exchange between EHRs and IIS is essential to increasing vaccine coverage and reducing vaccine-preventable diseases. HIMSS remains dedicated to supporting health IT developers in strengthening immunization interoperability to drive better public health outcomes, increase efficiency, and lower healthcare costs.
