HIMSS Board members, members, and friends gathered last night to celebrate Rich Hodge, our Sr. Director of Congressional Affairs, who has retired from our Government Relations Team. Rich’s contribution to instituting HIMSS as a recognized leader of health IT public policy development was on full display as we remembered the many initiatives he orchestrated during his five years. Rich’s persistence in working with Congress, our healthcare community partners, and HIMSS members was most evident in his work transforming the HIMSS Public Policy Principles and the four year effort to engage the healthcare community in the patient data matching initiative. Rich saw patient data matching as a cornerstone component of improving patient safety and interoperability. Our continued effort and the creation of the HIMSS Innovator in Residence at the HHS Idea Lab will continue the great work he started with our HIMSS leadership.
We offer our sincere thanks to Rich for his enduring contribution to HIMSS and the mission of optimizing health engagements and care outcomes through information technology.
