HIMSS Statement on Introduction of the CONNECT for Health Act of 2017

Focused on improving health with the best use of information technology, HIMSS supports this bipartisan legislation that includes removal of barriers to use of innovative healthcare technologies

On behalf of the HIMSS membership, we applaud Senators Schatz, Wicker, Cochran, Cardin, Thune, and Warner for their leadership in introducing the “Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies (CONNECT) for Health Act of 2017.” We are proud to continue to support this important legislation.

We believe the CONNECT for Health Act will modernize healthcare delivery for Medicare beneficiaries by removing barriers to the use of telehealth and other healthcare technologies such as remote patient monitoring, resulting in greater access to high-quality care, improved continuity of care and better value for patients and the Medicare program.

HIMSS appreciates the strong bipartisan commitment to advancing the use of innovative technologies in healthcare, and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership to enact these critical reforms.
