HIMSS Statement on Introduction of the CONNECT for Health Act

Arlington, VA (February 3, 2016) - On behalf of the HIMSS membership, we applaud Senators Schatz, Wicker, Cochran, Cardin, Thune, and Warner and Representatives Black, Welch and Harper for their leadership in introducing the “Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies (CONNECT) for Health Act.” We are proud to strongly support this important legislation.

We believe the CONNECT for Health Act will modernize healthcare delivery for Medicare beneficiaries by removing barriers to the use of telehealth and other healthcare technologies, resulting in greater access to high-quality care, improved continuity of care and better value for patients and the Medicare program.

HIMSS appreciates the strong bipartisan commitment to advancing the use of innovative technologies in healthcare, and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership to enact these critical reforms.
