The 2022 HIMSS European Health Conference & Exhibition in Helsinki, Finland, brought together more than 2,300 healthcare leaders from across Europe for a joint effort to build more resilient health systems with digital solutions at their core.

Programming delivered throughout the conference, which took place 14-16 June, focused on advancing specific initiatives and provided inspiration to stimulate new thinking. The HIMSS22 Europe exhibition showcased powerful solutions to deliver next-generation healthcare and some of the latest innovations and research from across the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The discussion among delegates focused on the need of building the European Health Union, an initiative aimed at equipping the European Union and its Member States to better prevent and address future pandemics and to improve resilience of Europe’s health systems.

HIMSS’s contributions to measuring digital maturity within the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility were discussed throughout the program and have been strongly endorsed by the hospitals that proudly received their Stage 6 and Stage 7 awards for achieving a high stage on the HIMSS maturity models.

“Understanding digital maturity of Europe’s health system is now on everybody’s agenda. This comes in the wake of the European Union’s massive investment into building the digital capacity of health systems across its Member States. These investments are expected to result in a more dynamic health economy, improved health services and overall greater opportunities for research, business and care across the EU”, says Armin Scheuer, Vice President and Executive Director EMEA, HIMSS.

The Digital Health Advisory Group for Europe (DHAGE) convened governments from across the EU, the UK and other countries to network to help align their policies and initiatives in order to support transformation of health systems.

At the TEHDAS Stakeholder Forum, more than 350 participants onsite and online kicked-off the next phase of building the European Health Data Space.

HIMSS22 Europe was endorsed by the French Presidency of the European Union  as well as supported by Finnish authorities such as the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health  and the Finnish Ministry of Economics, Business Finland, the City of Helsinki and other governmental and professional organizations.

Attendees experienced hands-on pre-conference workshops and forums, sessions from industry leaders, keynotes from renowned speakers and customized specialty education tracks — all designed to deliver the necessary education, innovation and to reimagine health and wellness for everyone, everywhere.
