On Monday, May 9, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) announced the Move Health Data Forward Challenge, a new funding opportunity aimed at stimulating the work around consumer-mediated exchange. Applications for phase one of the three phase Challenge are currently being accepted through September 8, 2016.
The Move Health Data Forward Challenge is designed to promote the development of innovative technology solutions that better enable consumers to authorize the movement of their health data building on the work of the HEART Workgroup. Applicants are encouraged to create an application programming interface (API) solution that uses the implementation specifications created by the HEART Workgroup.
The cumulative prize amount of the three phase challenge will be $250,000. Applications for phase one of the Challenge will be accepted through September 8, 2016 and phase one winners will be announced on October 31, 2016.
