State and Local Events @HIMSS18

State, territorial and local officials convene at HIMSS18 to discuss important challenges and opportunities at the state and local levels for which health information and technology might be part of the solution, learn about model practices in policy and innovation and to network with their colleagues. This year, over 55 officials representing a diverse set of states and territories will be attending.  There are a number of sessions and events at HIMSS18 that highlight grassroots advocacy and model state practices such as:

This session will showcase Indiana’s Medicaid Data Hub, maintained by the Management Performance Hub (MPH). This initiative has stimulated State Data Analysis and Visualization Challenges to advance data-driven innovation and policy-making. Learn from this model state initiative to harness Medicaid data and improve the health of the state’s most vulnerable populations from key project stakeholders working for the State of Indiana. The HIMSS Chapter Advocacy Roundtable Spot Session provides a platform for HIMSS chapter advocacy volunteers, local, state officials and the broader HIMSS membership to hear from the Chapter Advocacy Roundtable leaders on the value of grassroots advocacy. In addition, hear from an Indiana state official about their recent success in using de-identified Medicaid data to improve health outcomes, drive innovation, and support grassroots advocacy.
