What do you see as the future of health information and technology? Where do you think the industry can/will go?

The future of health information and technology lies in using artificial intelligence to augment clinicians' capability to make clinical care decisions and improve operational efficiency. The industry should then focus on improving the quality of health-related data generated from electronic health records and digital health applications to prepare itself in harnessing the full potential of artificial intelligence.

What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve encountered? How did you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges I had was drafting the EHR medication-use process for clinical areas that were unfamiliar to me. I overcame it by conducting classification sessions with subject matter experts and site visits.

What advice do you have for someone who is considering a career in health information and technology?

What's your favorite quote and why?

My favorite quote is one from Nelson Mandela. "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." The quote reminds me repeatedly to overcome any fear that I may feel every time I encounter new life challenges.

What's your favorite film?

My favorite film is Gattaca, starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Jude Law. The film continually reminds me of the possible ethical and social repercussions of technological advancement and how I should be cautious in my health information and technology ventures.
