Azar Confirmed as New Secretary of HHS

On Thursday, January 24th, the US Senate confirmed Alex Azar to be the next Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) following a largely party-line vote in the Finance Committee to advance his nomination. Azar, who served as HHS General Counsel and Deputy Secretary under President Bush, touched on a number of HIMSS priority policy issues during two previous Senate committee hearings including telehealth, the move to value-based care and implementation of 21st Century Cures.
