A Roadmap to the Patient Financial Experience of the Future

In July 2014, HIMSS directed the Revenue Cycle Improvement Task Force to focus its energies on creating a vision for the next generation of revenue cycle management tools and processes that keep administrative cost containment, interoperability, and patient engagement front and center. That vision is articulated in the Patient Financial Experience of the Future microsite.  This paper provides a detailed view of each component of the patient experience depicted in the microsite.  It follows the patient’s journey from pre-care, treatment, and coordination of care, ending with patient satisfaction, and identifies suggested technical solutions, streamlined processes, and potential gaps in the current typical patient experience.
