Small Business and Diversity Roundtable

Businesses owned by minorities, women and veterans can advocate, collaborate, network and grow as the health IT market prepares for rapid expansion over the next decade.  These small and diverse enterprises gather to share strategies to develop their businesses.

HIMSS has a wide range of resources to help its corporate members capitalize on ARRA funding and other opportunities to grow their businesses.  We invite entrepreneurs who want to be part of the healthcare transformation to join the HIMSS Small Business Diversity Roundtable.

Purpose of HIMSS Small Business and Diversity Roundtable

Advocacy - Providing a voice for Health IT Small and Diverse Businesses

Education - Leveraging HIMSS events and programs for Health IT Small and Diverse Businesses

Network - Providing a forum for face to face and virtual interaction for Health IT Small and Diverse Businesses

Collaborate - Enhancing business opportunities by fostering a partnership environment for Health IT Small and Diverse Businesses

HIMSS Small Business and Diversity Roundtable Quarterly Meeting (in-person and virtual)

Guest speaker Dwight D. Deneal from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Small and Disadvantage Business Utilization (OSDBU) will lead an informative discussion on small businesses contracting with HHS and contracting opportunities available within HHS.

As a Small Business Specialist, Mr. Deneal advises the heads of contracting agencies/contracting and program officials on procurement strategies that seek to maximize small business participation for solicitations, contracts, subcontracting plans, and facilitation of small business outreach/counseling activities.

Additionally, he is a former Contract Specialist for the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Navy, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division and has both the Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) Level III and Defense Acquisition Improvement Workforce Act (DAWIA) Level II in Contracting Certification.
