Workforce is the biggest challenge facing healthcare systems worldwide as they tackle simultaneously a rising tide of comorbidity and a critical shortage of clinicians. The global workforce crisis – afflicting rich and poor nations alike – is a huge barrier to achieving the vision for 21st Century healthcare that fully embraces the possibilities of science and technology. This session will focus on how to fill critical gaps in the workforce that are delaying transformation. Our panel will share innovations in workforce development and ideas for improving engagement and digital literacy among staff. They will also discuss what new skills clinicians will need to enable the delivery of more cost-effective, patient-centred care in community settings.
